Food Scraps

Regional Refuse has partnered with Blue Earth Compost for the collection of its food scraps.

The food scrap container is on the lower level. If you cannot find it, ask an attendant.

Yes — meat, bones and dairy ARE accepted. This is commercial composting, so it takes things a backyard compost pile cannot.

PUT THESE IN

• Fruit and vegetable scraps, pits and peels

• Meat, bones, shellfish and fish

• Dairy and egg shells

• Breads and cereals

• Coffee grounds, filters and tea bags

• Condiments, spices, incidental oils and fats

• Food soiled paper

• Plants and herbs

• BPI certified compostable products

KEEP THESE OUT

• Plastic of any kind, including plastic gloves

• Glass of any kind

• Metal and aluminum foil

• Styrofoam

• Milk cartons, English muffin cartons, waxy cardboard

• Clean pizza boxes — these go in recycling

• Fireplace or barbecue ashes

• Hot liquids

• Twist ties, rubber bands, corks, gum, candles

• Disposable mops and cleaning sheets

• Pet waste

Cooking Oil

Regional Refuse has partnered with Phibro RenewOil for the collection of cooking oil.

The cooking oil container is on the lower level. If you cannot find it, ask an attendant.

Used cooking oil and fryer grease only. No motor oil, no antifreeze, and no other automotive fluids.

HOW TO DROP OFF YOUR OIL

Pour your oil into the marked container on the lower level.

Take your empty jug home with you, or put it in the household trash compactor if you do not want it.
